ESC PROJECT AT AWESOME PEOPLE

YOUTH, NON FORMAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES, HUMAN RIGHTS, MEDIA, AND COMMUNICATION
Awesome People is a part of the ESC (European Solidarity Corps) and holds a Quality Label as Lead organisation, which means we can receive and send volunteers. In the frame of the European Solidarity Corps program we are able to welcome 6 long-term ESC volunteers (for 12 months, from the 4th of September 2023 – the 31st of July 2024).
We specifically welcome volunteers from the NEET group, people with a migrant background, LGBTQ+ representatives, and persons with autism or mental disabilities.

Volunteer’s role and tasks
The volunteer’s main role in this project is to assist in arranging activities while visiting schools, leading workshops, developing projects, taking care of our social media, preparation in the office and helping with the associated work.
Between projects (70%):
Planning, preparing, and arranging local activities for young people (volunteer meetings, cultural presentations, international camps, language meetings):â

Creating promotional material about our activities such as flyers, posters and invitations (graphic design skills and experience in Canva, InDesign or Photoshop is preferable)

Writing blog posts

Preparing rooms and equipment for activities

Constructing educational escape rooms

Arranging activities

During projects (30%):
Assisting in different weekly activities such as workshops, educational escape room games, training, and youth exchanges by:

Creating social media content (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tiktok)

Facilitating educational sessions and activities for youngsters
-
Documenting the projects and activities through films, podcasts, pictures and text
-
Working with technical equipment, such as cameras, microphones and video creation programs
-
Editing of aftermovies and testimonials
-
Cooking for participants of youth exchanges and training courses
-
Cleaning

Working hours
The volunteers will be working for 38 hours per week. Usually during weekdays but sometimes they will work on weekends and evenings. When working outside the ordinary 38 hours, volunteers are compensated with the amount of extra hours worked the next coming day/week. Volunteers are encouraged to take courses in Swedish, which are included in their working hours (3h/week).
Besides 2 days off per week, volunteers are granted with another 2 days off per month as vacation days, which can be saved.

Team
As a volunteer you will work in a team of 3-6 people; these might be other volunteers (local and international), project leaders, and project assistants. Some days Dobby, the founders' dog, also joins the team in the office. Therefore, it is important that you are not allergic to or afraid of dogs.

Food and pocket money
The volunteers receive food money (200 € ) and pocket money every month. The pocket money is 150€. The money is given every quarter and it is the responsibility of the volunteer to manage it well.
Accommodation and transport
Awesome people's main location is our office in Örebro city where the volunteers will do preparation work for projects and activities . The volunteers will be accommodated in Kopparberg town, 100 km from Örebro where our organisation will hold some of the local and international activities.
The volunteers will receive Länstrafiken Örebro County's monthly card, which means that they can travel by train and bus as much as they want within Örebro County and can easily get to Awesome Peoples office in Örebro. Commuting between the office and accommodation requires use of the train (1 h) and bus (10 min) on top of the walking distance to Kopparberg station (15 min).
